Join us for our lively, open and enlightening online conversations that will engage, inform and inspire you. When timing and time zones coincide, our conversations may even be GLOBAL!
What is a Community Conversation?
EAN Community Conversations are lightly-facilitated and interactive online conversations on a topics related to our action areas. These conversations may be educational, with guest experts, suggested readings, or videos to stimulate your thinking. Others are action-oriented, focused on planning activities, events, or initiatives driven by EAN’s mission and vision. No matter the topic, each community conversation will give you an opportunity to share your own thoughts, opinions, questions, or concerns about the topic at hand, as well as hear those of others.
Please join in!
EASJ’s Curious Listening Initiative and Community Conversation expand in January and February to join others within Elders Action Network. Since our focus is currently on looking inward to understand our personal assumptions and views on race, racism and anti-racism, you are invited to join the Book Study Group in reading Caste, the Origins of our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson. The resulting conversations have been thoughtful and lively, and there are room and time for more people to join.
EASJ is also offering a workshop called Me and White Supremacy, an intensive 28-day challenge that leads readers through a journey of understanding their white privilege and participation in white supremacy, so they can stop inflicting damage (often unconsciously) on black, indigenous and people of color, and in turn, help other white people do better, too. This session is full, but others will be offered later this year.
In December’s Curious Listening Initiative, EAN board member Libby Traubman spoke on The Origins of Our Fears. She reminded us that people can bridge the divides that separate us by getting to know each other and by finding our common interests. You can view it here. There was no Community Conversation in December.
Elders Climate Action (ECA)
Fourth Tuesday of the month @ 4:00 pm PT / 7:00 pm ET
ECA is mobilizing elders throughout the United States to address climate change while there is still time to protect the well being of our grandchildren, future generations, and all life. We are dedicated to using the power of our caring, our wisdom and our numbers to push for policies that will reduce greenhouse gases in our atmosphere to a level consistent with life thriving on our planet. Each month we have a national call with guest speakers on climate change related topics. RSVP here
