Our January Community Conversation will center on naming and linking systems of social injustice. Since the topic of social injustice is so vast and complex we will begin to discuss it on a very high level and graph it in order to recognize the many components and how they relate to and support one another. Come to the conversation with your own list of social injustices (think age, race, gender/sexual preference, geographic region, residential red lining, nationality, immigration status and history, education, speech patterns, accent, language, wealth and poverty) and expect to be a little surprised by the conversations and systems that emerge.
Is this too big a topic to even begin to define and wrap our minds around? Join the conversation. Speak. Listen. Watch. Let’s see what we can learn together.
We participate together over Zoom video conferencing in a lightly-facilitated, educational and interactive conversation. We have time to deep dive into our topics using an Elder and social justice lens…always provocative, meaningful and community-oriented.Learn more & RSVP
The Elder Activists for Social Justice action group is now offering two ways to participate and learn more about social justice issues. We will continue our Community Conversations via Zoom on the third Thursday of each month and we will also present a course called ‘Seeing Systems: Peace, Justice and Sustainability’ meeting every other week beginning in early February.
