On August 20 we hope to show a documentary about asylum seekers and their treatment on entering the United States. Filmmaker Sylvia Johnson may be able to join us with more information and updates. More information to come soon…
Meanwhile: Following the excitement and interest generated by our conversation with Elizabeth White and Fareed Hayat on July 16, we continue with a “Mini” Community Conversation on issues of Black Lives Matter, systemic racism and what we can do to help end it on Thursday, July 30 at 9:00 am PT / 12 noon ET.
Please register here in advance for this special meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
You can see a recording of our June 18 Community Conversation with Belinda Eriacho, Navajo and Zuni elder, and David Garcia, elder in the Tohono O’odham tribe, here.
Here are two short audio recordings you may want to listen to or read:
Protesters nationwide are demanding police reform. Calls to defund the police mean different things to different people, and there’s no clear answer to what that might look like in reality.
When Lisa Cook tried to publish her research showing how segregation and racial violence held back Black innovation, she encountered obstacles. Now her work is considered groundbreaking.
We participate together over Zoom video conferencing in a lightly-facilitated, educational and interactive conversation. We have time to deep dive into our topics using an Elder and social justice lens…always provocative, meaningful and community-oriented.Learn more & RSVP
