EN-Roads Climate Change Game
Jun 10 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT
After many successful and rewarding presentations of the EN-Roads Workshop, we’re now excited to run a full blown EN-Roads game.
In the game, participants role play delegates to an emergency session of the United Nations General Assembly. Each player chooses a special interest group to represent, advocate their position, and negotiate with other groups to agree on strategies to reach the Paris Agreement goal of 1.5ºC below pre-industrial levels.
Participants in the game take on roles that include leaders of major clean technology companies, fossil fuel companies, government representatives from developed and developing countries, industry and commerce organizations, and climate action think tanks and advocates.
Players get short briefing statements about their sector and a set of decisions and actions to choose from. They can put a price on carbon pollution, subsidize or tax any type of energy, invest R&D for new energy and carbon capture technologies, increase energy efficiency, electrify buildings and transport, manage land use, and more. Each group is challenged to build their own plan to save humanity from global heating. The experience is highly interactive, fun and engaging.
We’re looking for 16 players for a 3-hour session on Zoom on Thursday, June 10th at 9:00 am PT / 12:00 pm ET. To sign up, contact Geoff Ainscow, and he’ll add you to the list. No prior experience is needed. Each group of four will have a trained facilitator to manipulate the simulator and manage the Zoom technicalities. However, this is the first game for us, so we would like forgiving participants.
