“Awareness leads to action, and action leads to change. Many excellent books cover similar ground, but few are as bracingly honest and well organized for readers to process…” –Goodreads
You are invited to take deep dive with a group of curious, compassionate and committed members of EAN as we get in touch with our role and responsibility to “combat racism, change the world and become a good ancestor” as Layla F. Saad offers through her book, Me and White Supremacy.
We will work through Saad’s book, in which she sets up an intensive 28-day challenge by posing questions to be addressed through journaling and community dialogue.
“Me and White Supremacy: A 28-Day Challenge to Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor leads readers through a journey of understanding their white privilege and participation in white supremacy, so that they can stop (often unconsciously) inflicting damage on black, indigenous and people of color, and in turn, help other white people do better, too. The book provides historical and cultural contexts, shares moving stories and anecdotes, and includes definitions, examples, and further resources.” –Layla F. Saad

What people have to say about taking this workshop:
“Taking a deep dive into my relationship to race has opened many doors for me to become more aware of the impact of my thoughts and actions/non-actions across the board. The veil of unspoken, subtle, nuanced and hidden truths of systemic racism (sexism, ageism etc.) has been raised to the point that I feel them in my heart and body.” –Melissa Ribner, EAN member
“I am more conscious of the power advantage I have simply by being white. I pay more attention to my interactions with Black, indigenous and people of color. By reviewing my lifetime of past interactions, I have greater clarity regarding “microaggression.”…more appreciative of anger.” –Carol Adams, EAN member
“My understanding has deepened…along with my commitment to action.” –Lynne Iser, EAN Board President
