These days, it’s hard to differentiate between democratic principles and partisanship. We believe in lowercase “d” democracy, and our capital “C” Constitution. We believe our environment is an issue for everyone—including future generations—and as elders, we strive to safeguard it.
We meet every 4th Tuesday at 3:30pm Pacific to share the projects or initiatives in our state that are near and dear to each of us. Below are some of them. Check them out and join us in fighting for a better world!
CALIFORNIA STATE CHAPTER
Get Out The Vote—High School Voters
This is a national campaign run by The Civic Center. We partner with them to bring high school students into the voting process, help them register their peers to vote, and add a special gift box. In WA, 16- and 17-year-olds can pre-register, and can vote in primaries if they will turn 18 by the November election. Interested in helping here in Washington? Contact here.
The Environmental Voters Project
The Environmental Voter Project addresses both our environmental concerns and our democratic ones. You can join on your own, or start a group to encourage postcard-writing parties, canvass a neighborhood, or phone-bank. We have ordered 3000 cards for the state of Texas. Want to help? Environmental Voter Postcard Project is the form to sign up to write postcards to irregular environmentalist voters in Texas and Virginia.
Center for Common Ground
The Center for Common Ground is a non-partisan, Black and women-led voting rights organization founded in 2018. We focus our work in voter suppression states where more than 20% of voters are voters of color—Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. Support this postcarding project—3000 cards ordered by EAN—starting with NC voters. Center for Common Ground Postcard Project is the form to sign up to write postcards to low-voting Black voters.
Climate Action Carousel
A widget from Climate Action Now!, this Carousel (posted on ECA’s website) remembers your actions and suggests new ones each time you come back. You earn points, and when you earn enough points, Climate Action Now will plant real trees on your behalf.
