Disinformation Project

Disinformation Project of the Communications Team

The mission of the Disinformation Project is to help people recognize, understand, and respond to the growing role of disinformation in our public life. Our work focuses on educating others about:

  • The role disinformation plays in creating political and social divisions

  • How disinformation works—and why it is so effective

  • How to distinguish between misleading claims and reliable information

  • What individuals can do to challenge and counter disinformation

Our current strategy is to share short educational messages through social media, with a primary focus on Instagram and YouTube. In particular, our goal is to reach people ages 20–35, a generation that will shape the country’s future but is often disengaged from political news. To reach a wider audience, our content needs to be engaging, creative, and sometimes entertaining.

If this work interests you, we would welcome your help with:

  • Researching current events related to disinformation

  • Tracking relevant conversations and posts on social media

  • Writing video scripts that are informative, funny, or eye-catching

  • Brainstorming ideas for new videos

  • Appearing in videos (as yourself or as an avatar)
