Astronauts For America Featuring Charles F. Bolden, Jr.

Astronauts For America (AFA) works to bridge divisions in our country, strengthen a balanced and functional government, and uphold constitutional principles and the rule of law.

Mr. Bolden will speak as a founding member of Astronauts for America. AFA is a nonpartisan organization of more than 100 former NASA astronauts who have sworn to defend the Constitution of the United States. AFA is committed to science, evidence-based decision-making, public service, and the rule of law. We look forward to hearing what AFA is doing to get out the vote, encourage young people to register and vote, and address the challenges and opportunities our country may face as we approach the midterm elections.

Mr. Bolden served as NASA Administrator from 2009 – 2017. Bolden’s distinguished 34-year career with the Marine Corps included 14 years in NASA’s Astronaut Office and four Space Shuttle missions. He piloted Space Shuttle Columbia in 1986 (STS-61C) and Space Shuttle Discovery in 1990 (STS-31) – the mission that deployed the Hubble Space Telescope. He served as Mission Commander on Space Shuttle Atlantis in 1992 (STS-45) and Space Shuttle Discovery in 1994 (STS-60).
