In Nature, everything is interconnected…

“The roots of all living things are tied together.
When a mighty tree is felled a star falls from the sky.”

–Chan K’in of Naha, Lacandon Indian, Mexico

Alan will highlight the importance of re-establishing a meaningful, personal connection with wild Nature. This is a key element in creating a viable future for all life on the planet.

For “rewilding” to be effective and successful, significant, and widespread changes need to occur in our human culture. The most important of these is an acceptance of the fact that humans are intimately connected with all other life on the planet, and that all our actions affect the whole.

We must stop interfering and if we actively assist, we can accelerate the revitalization of degraded habitats and quicken the natural recovery of species. To return the Earth to ecological health and balance we need to re-focus, stop the destruction of Nature, and reverse the damage that has taken place.

Alan will include many of his stunning images and focus on some of the empowering steps we can each take to bring our individual lives into balance and health, whilst simultaneously enabling all the other species in the world to flourish again.

I care deeply about our planet and have dedicated my life to protecting its biological diversity and sharing the beauty and wonders of the natural world through my photographs, talks and writing. I also seek to embody my values and care for the Earth in my own personal life. To this end, I’ve been vegan for almost 40 years and live in an energy-efficient ecologically designed house in the Findhorn Community in northeast Scotland, where the ecological footprint of our lives is one of the lowest in the UK.
