Reclaiming the Wild Soul: How Earth’s Landscapes Restore Us to Wholeness by Mary Reynolds Thompson

October 4 – December 13, 2021
Every other Monday
9:00 – 10:30 am PT / 12:00 – 1:30 pm ET

Our next book is Reclaiming the Wild Soul: How Earth’s Landscapes Restore Us to Wholeness by Mary Reynolds Thompson. After we complete Reclaiming the Wild Soul, we will dive into Deep Adaptation – Navigating the Realities of Climate Chaos by Jem Bendell & Rupert Read.

Here is a bit of information about the two books we chose:

Reclaiming the Wild Soul: How Earth’s Landscapes Restore Us to Wholeness by Mary Reynolds Thompson
As we continue to read books that remind us to dispel the myth of separation, I found that this book invites us to get more deeply in touch with the more-than-human terrain out there/in here. Thompson reminds us that we belong to the land and the wild of the land is in us. Let the rewilding begin.

And, there is ease, beauty and joy that comes through this reading. It calms me.

Here’s what Bill Plotkin has to say…“Woven with enchanting stories and wise counsel, Reclaiming the Wild Soul lavishly supports us, at this time of global crisis/opportunity, to return, emboldened, to Earth and to our own human wildness.”

Deep Adaptation – Navigating the Realities of Climate Chaos by Jem Bendell & Rupert Read
Three years after his 2018 article on ‘deep adaptation’, which went viral (more than 1 million downloads), Jem Bendell co-edited this essential book which includes chapters by Joanna Macy, Jonathan Gosling, Charlotte Simpson and others. ‘Deep adaptation’ refers to the personal and collective changes that might help us to prepare for – and live with – a climate-influenced breakdown or collapse of our societies. The authors demonstrate the caring and creative ways that people are responding to the most difficult realization with which humanity may ever have to come to terms. Elders for Regenerative Living is using this book as a key source of inspiration for the design of its upcoming Regenerative Elder Program.

(This book will follow Reclaiming the Wild Soul)
