Emotional Logic Discovery Meeting
May 26 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am PDT
Looking for ways to move beyond conflict and that “stuck” feeling into greater personal and organizational accomplishment? Attend the free virtual Emotional Logic/EAN Discovery event and learn how EAN is integrating this powerful approach to relationship-building into a series of organization-wide collaborations.
Emotional Logic (EL) is a potent tool for transforming unpleasant emotions into catalysts for healthy change, reaching beyond superficial feelings to the deeply held values that define who we are and how we perceive loss. Although new to the U.S., EL has been used in a variety of settings in multiple countries—including Zimbabwe, Kenya, Israel, the United Kingdom, and many others—to build healthier personal and organizational relationships. Its methods are evidence-based and grounded in sound science.
Earlier this year, 17 EAN members completed a four-week training regimen with Dr. Trevor Griffiths, the founder of EL, and team leader Dr. Julie Henshelwood to explore how EL might be used to facilitate difficult conversations among people who do not share common political perspectives. John Sorensen, one of the members of this initial cohort and co-chair of Elders for Sound Democracy, recognized that EL could be a powerful way to help people who are struggling with challenges to cope with—and even grow from—experiences of loss, disappointment and frustration in their organizing work.
As a result, EAN and EL are now embarking on multiple collaborative efforts to bring an understanding of EL to other parts of EAN, including discussion groups around basic EL concepts, advanced training for those who want to facilitate deeper conversations using EL, and providing safe space for EAN members to get support from a trained EL facilitator when they encounter resistance or even hostility in their work.
We invite you to attend this special event with Drs. Griffiths and Henshelwood and explore with us how to activate your own innate emotional logic to help us deal with challenges in our EAN-based work.register
