Elders Acting Now!

Friday, September 23, 2022
9:00 – 11:30 am PT / 12:00 – 2:30 pm ET

LaDoris Cordell featured speaker

“Lawyers are either social engineers or parasites on society.” –Charles Hamilton Houston
“This was my philosophy when, as a lawyer, I chose to devote my law practice to representing the underserved. And, in the judicial area, I believe that judges are either activists for justice or black-robed-do-nothings.” As we see in LaDoris Cordell’s recent book, Her Honor, activism and working for change in the system is at her very core.

Whether as a young 28 year old developing an admissions program that established Stanford Law School as a leader in the nation in its enrollment of students of color, or as the first person elected to the Palo Alto City Council who did not accept any monetary campaign contributions, or as San Jose’s Independent Police Auditor (IPA) that gained national recognition for its  groundbreaking work in civilian oversight of the police, LaDoris’s life has been about working for change even though that change is often criticized as moving too fast.

And there’s more! She is also a cartoonist, artist, and musician. She even led a soul line dance at her swearing-in as a Palo Alto City Councilmember.

Join us at the EAN National Gathering for a conversation with LaDoris Cordell. You won’t want to miss it!
